i can see the future

I’ve never been able to notice the faces of my friends changing before. They just were as they are, freckles and moles depending on the person. But for the first time in my life, I can see the lines on their face forming. I can see which ones will deepen throughout the years, which the sun and cigarettes will carve into their face.

I can see into the future now. When I stare at the people I’ve known my whole life, I remember what they used to look like, I acknowledge what they look like now, but I can see 10 or 15 years in advance.

Do other people see it in me too? Where the smile lines are being etched, the sunspots that will slowly darken.

It’s not sad necessarily but I get overwhelmed by melancholy for now. It’s hard to be in the moment when the future keeps invading the present.
